Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Leasing while divorcing
My friend's husband has just asked of a
divorce. They are both on the lease and
he has decided to leave. She however,
cannot afford it alone. Are there any
laws in florida to help her break it or
help give her a solution?

Re: Leasing while divorcing
No, Florida law doesn't allow a lease to be broken because of a divorce or separation. Unfortunately, these types of situations often ruin people's credit. She might consider asking a divorce judge for temporary alimony to pay the rent until the lease is up, but temporary alimony for lease payments is very, very rare.
