An 8 year old's father passed away unexpectedly. Child's mother is incarcerated. Child is with father's mother. What is this grandmother's obligation to tell child's mother of this death?

I suggest someone tell this mother ASAP. The grandmother could get temporary custody of the child while the mother is incarcerated but the final word is with the mother.
