Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I left my husband 4/2010 for another man. It was a phyically and verbally abusive marriage over 15 yrs. We have 2 children. I left the kids with him due to my not having a job and my moving over 30 miles from their activities. I did not want to take the kids out of everything they were accustomed to at that time, but I had to leave. I couldnt take the abuse any longer. For the first 2 weeks or so after I left he hid the kids at his friends house so that I could not have any contact with them, he has changed all of the locks in the house so I can not get any more of my belongings nor will he let me back in the house. In the months since, he has put the kids in the middle of this entire mess and will not speak to me directly, everything goes through the kids. My daughter finally is tired of his childishness and has decided to live with me. he is now threatening me and her, because of her decision. I wanted to find out what I need to do to get "official" custody of her so she can stay with me. He has threatened to file a false police report and state that he didnt know where his daughter was in hopes to get me in trouble. I am on very limited income and can not afford to hire an attorney.
