Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

legal responsibility to child's mother

A friend's ex-girlfriend is pregnant with his child. She recently quit her job and is forcing him to provide for her (making him find a house for her). He realizes that he is responsible for the child, but legally, can she force him to take care of her? He is unsure of what his legal responsibilities are (other than the child) and doesn't want to talk to a lawyer unless he can fight it (i.e., taking care of the ex). (He has no issues of taking care of the child, but does not feel he should ahve to take care of the mother.)

Re: legal responsibility to child's mother

His legal responsibilities end at paying child support. It sounds like he knows what his moral responsibilities are to the child. I'm not sure why in the world he thinks he needs to find his ex a house. Are her legs broken?

No, he has no legal responsibility to lift a finger for her.
