what legal right does a wife have if the husband will not allow her and her child into their home? wife and child have been away from home for 3 days but need clothing and misc and husband threatens that if they try to enter the house he will call police for trespassing. what should she do.

The police probably wouldn't get involved..
As it is the marital home, you have every right to equal possession of it.
If the marriage is over, retain an attorney, and pursue divorce. Your attorney could likely obtain access to the home, which depending upon the particular circumstances involved, this might be considered an emergency by the Court.
If the situation will likely blow over, then deal with it as best as you can
