Re: Name Changes

Depending on your comfort level, this might be something that you can handle without the assistance of an attorney. Go to the Florida Courts' website; http://www.flcourts.org/. Click on the "self-help" icon. That should take you to the proper forms.

If this goes beyond your comfort level, seek the assistance of an attorney. It should be relatively inexpensive for an attorney to handle this for you.

Re: Name Changes

You must file a Petition for Name Change in the Circuit Court for the jurisdiction in which you live. The Petition must state the reason for the name change and that you are not doing it for any ulterior motive including the avoidance of creditors.

You should consider hiring an attorney to help you with this process. While it is not a difficult legal action, an experienced attorney should be able to prepare your pleadings and handle this matter for a reasonable fee in a relatively short period of time.
