Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I live in Florida and my father's son signed his birth certificate. Is this the same as establishing paternity and does this make him my son's legal father? If so, why did he 8 months later file a legal suit for paternity? I am confused!

He can still contest the issue.
You probably filed for support and in order to defend himself - he must establish paternity and then file for visitation, custody and support issues.
He is just filing a court action to establish his parental rights and time sharing with the child. Contact my office for free consultation 727-446-7659.
While the birth certificate can establish paternity it is more formalized in a law suit for Paternity which can also address issues such as child support and Time Sharing (visitation). You will have to formally respond to such a suit and actively participate in order to protect the interest of your child.
I would you suggest you take his Petition and meet with an Attorney.
