live in florida but on a trip to nj can you file divorce here or have to go back to florida got married in nj 20 years ago live now in florida for 7 years

You have to file in the state where you have residency. According to your question you are a legal resident of Florida.

Where is the ex to be? If the ex to be is not a resident of Florida, then yu will have to file where that person is as Florida would have no jurisdiction over that person.
