Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I live in the State of Florida. Am I entitled to 1/2 of marital assets even though my name is not on all of them (cars, house etc). Am I also responsible for 1/2 of our debts (even though not in my name) as well?

Florida is an equitable distribution state. Therefore, each party is generally entitled to one-half of the all of the marital assets and marital liabilities acquired during the marriage, regardless of in whose name they are held.

the is an equitable community state -the marital assets will be determined by the amount you contributed to the assets - as to the debts - if the account is joint and you can show that you did not accumulate the debt - then the court can request the other party to pay.
