How long can it take to get equal rights for your child?

It depends on which county you are in. If you are married to the other parent when the child is born, then theoretically, you have equal rights from the moment the child is born. If you are the father and you are not married to the mother when the child is born, you must file for paternity. paternity cases can take from about two months two 18 months to be completed. usually, though, the judge will establish equal rights and some form of timeshare (custody and visitation) on a temporary basis near the outset of the paternity case.
If not married to the mother you have to file a petition to enforce your rights and establish your rights - 3 to 6 months - or longer courts are slow.
