With the significant difference in your comparative incomes, you should be more concerned with your alimony exposure. If the marriage is over, statutorily, it would greatly be to your benefit for file before you hit the seven (7) year mark. If you wait until you have been married 17 years, by then you will statutorily have a significant potential exposure to a permanent alimony award. How long have you been married?
If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.
