Marriage law

I am getting married in florida and my future husband owes back child support. Can they collect that from me as well i.e. tax returns payroll deductions and if not how do i protect myself?

You're not liable for his back support. However, joint assets can be taken to satisfy the debt. For instance, to use your tax example, if you and your soon-to-be-husband file a joint tax return, the refund can be taken entirely, even though some of the refund money would technically be "yours."
