Is a Marriage Legal?

If a person is married on August 14th and the divorce from their first marriage is not signed by the judge (final) until September 5th of the same year, (even though they went to their court date for the divorce on July 25th) is that persons 2nd marriage legal? What needs to be done to make it legal? Please respond ASAP
