Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I never married the father of my 3 year old. and for the past year he has talked to her maybe 4 times and seen her 0 times i live out of state and i have offered shared cost for travel so he can see his daughter still he chose not to. for the year so far he has left to Cuba (im not cuban) so the calls went from 4 to 0 and he has not come back. I want sole custody of my daughter can this be possible by child abandonment?

Is he on the birth certificate? Are there any court papers where he is paying child support? Need more info in order to answer your question. If you have no court papers you already have sole custody because he has nothing giving him any visitation rights.
