Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

We were married in Mexico. My husband and I are both American citizens living in the US. We never oficially married or registered our marriage in the US though we have filed taxes jointly and lived as husband and wife for 21 years. We are now divorcing. The questions is are we considered married in the US and do we need to file for divorce in the US, Mexico, either or neither?

If you both entered into a valid marriage in Mexico, you are considered married in the US. You would be able to file in Florida if both or either of you are residents of Florida.

You should file where you reside permanently.
