Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have been married for almost 18 years--my husband and I own a home in a gated community which I am willing to give up just to get away from him--he's very controlling and verbally abusive. I would like to move out of state soon as I inherited money from my mother in a trust just in my name. Is it possible to file for divorce from a different state--I don't want him to know where I'm going because quite frankly at times he can be scary. What information can you give me??

Even if you move you may have to bring the divorce action in Florida. The state you move to may not have jurisdiction over your husband. It depends on their state statutes.
