medical collections for spouse

am i responsible for my husbands medical bills and would i be responsible for prior medical debt if we get a divorce?

If you mean bills that have been accumulated during the marriage, the answer that you are partially responsible. Both spouses are responsible for "marital debt." During divorce procedings, it is possible for the two spouses to negotiate "who gets what" including who gets what debt.
