Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I am a military retiree and filed for divorce from my wife in South Carolina in 2007. The judge in South Carolina did not finalize the divorce at that time. I live in Florida now. I want to know if the divorce in SC must be completed there and if a FL lawyer would be able to assist me in finalizing the divorce in SC or if I must travel back to SC to get legal assistance there. The only details ordered by the SC judge were support payments

You need a FLA attorney to start a new action. The SC file can be reviewed but I doubt they still have jurisdiction. Good luck.
You should file a new case in FL since the case was not finished (and likely dismissed). Use of a lawyer is recommended in your case.
Seven years is a loooong time for a case to remain open with no action. You should contact the clerk of court where the case was pending to learn if it is still open. If open you can decide how to proceed. If it is closed then you may wish to proceed in Florida.
