Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

''Minor Inconvenience''

I am a minor who moved away from my dads home after he was sent to jail, my mother is overseas serving the country in Iraq and my brother lives in a small apartment in an complex with many free rooms. My father was bailed out of jail, but I refuse to live with him do to his violent, abusive nature. After looking into all possibilities, our only solution is to rent me an apartment in my brother's same complex. My question is if there are two apartments, one closer to our budget, and one that is connected to my brother's, but is a little more pricey, which is a better choice and would be more beneficial legally and also why? (I am 15 years old if that helps)

Re: ''Minor Inconvenience''

Which apartment you should move into isn't a legal question.

What you really want to know is if you can run away and get away with it, especially if it's to a close relative's (your brother's) home, when your father is abusive. The answer is no. If your father is abusive, report it to the police and DCF, who will see to your care. Also, notify your mother, who may ge special permission to come back.

Running away is not an option.
