Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Minor living alone

I am 14 turning 15 in September. My parents want me to go to a nice public school because the one in our area is bad. So they will rent a house next to a friend of ours and I will live in that house alone. I will be living at that house 5 days a week and will be going back to my parents house on weekends. The houses are 8 miles apart. And the school is 7 mile apart from where I will be staying so they don't want to drive me. So is it legal for me to live alone at that place without getting the Emancipation of a Minor?

Re: Minor living alone

Regardless you are still your parents' responsibilty until you are 18. You could do it and it could work. From both you and your parents'view, I would NOT do it. Too many pitfalls for both sides. Why not make arrangements with the friend to stay during the week.

At yout age I would not even think about emancipation!
