Does a minor 16 years of age have the right to refuse visitation with parent

If you refuse to see the other parent, they may and can take your primary parent to court. that could be a good thing but also could be a bad thing. YOu are old enough to testify and can speak at the hearing. However, if this is because you are unhappy about leaving your gf/bf and some menial reason, then it would be a bad thing. The court will order you to visit because it would be in your best interest to maintain a relationship with your other parent. However, if it is because there are things going on that you should not be exposed to - then your primary parent should be making that information clear to the court.

Unfortunately for both parents, this is a no win situation. I hope you think about what you are doing. So many parents do not get to spend time with their child and if you speak up with the other parent, maybe you can make arrangements for your friends to go with you and really show the other parent what your lifestyle is like.
