Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Mom in jail, what will happen to house and little brother?

I have a 16 year old brother who will be 17 on May 30th, 2005. My mom recently went to jail for a suspended license, marked as habitual. Assuming she will be in there for quite some time, what would happen to my little brother? I am 20 years old and I have a house with a room mate. Our dad, I see as unfit...He's been arrested numerous times, is a drug addict, unemployed, the works. Also, my mom has a mortgage on the house, will she lose everything or is there a way to stop it? IF my little brother were to come stay with me, were there be a way of compensation, so I can take care of him. I am on a very limited income and barely make it by myself.

Your matter is much to complex to answer here. You should speak with a family law attorney. The first thing is for you to be appointed your brothers guardian by a court. good luck.
