Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My Mom's best friend died a few months ago and left my mom to be her rep. We had to hire an attorney because the will did not give my mom the power she needed to settle her estate. She also had a mentally challenged son who is 54yrs old and no guardianship was in place. How long and how much would it take to establish guardianship?
