mooching issue

I have a friend who was in a realtionship with a wealthy man, and they broke it off, now he wants all the money and items returned to him (cost over 20,000.00) he is threating to sue. can he do that and win?

He probably can't, but we'd need more facts to be certain. If he is really rich, then I don't see him suing over this.
