Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
The mother of my child does not want me on child support. We both agreed that things would be easier for us if the state was not involved. We agreed to joint custody and shared responsability. The Florida State attorney is telling me I have to pay an amount that is considerably higher for my income. How can we fix this? They came after me because she had applied for food stamps..

If she applied for food stamps, then she has no control over whether you have to pay child support. You must pay. If you think child support enforcement is asking for too much, then you should hire an attorney to check their figures. Remember that child support in Florida is calculated by guidelines, and it is simply a matter of plugging in some figures. It isn't negotiable. Also remember that Florida has high child support figures, usually much higher than other states.
