Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

hi i am a mother of a 7month old baby and myself my daughter and her father is living in a apartment together however her father does not help me out fininacial with the child...All he does is pay his half of rent and electricity....so basically he is just like my roomate because he does nothing more for me or our daughter.....My question is can i file for child support from him if we are living in the same household currently?

By your statement the father, I'm assuming your not married to him. Go ahead and file for child support.

If y ou are not married, yes, file for child support. Please note that he is paying one half of the rent and electricity and that could be considered support.

You cannot receive child support when you and the father are cohabitating. I'm not sure why the other attorneys told you that you could. You can call Child Support Enforcement to confirm this.
