Motion for Contempt
In January I was served with a Motion for Contempt for not allowing the non-custodial parent visitation. There was one instance when I was unable to travel to Michigan(where the non-custodial parent resides). I received the flight arrangements 2 days before I was to travel and had no time to make arrangements at work, etc. I also had a written doctors note saying I could not travel during that period. There was a hearing in March, but the non-custodial parent's attorney requested a continuation. The non-custodial parent has made no attempt in the past three years to visit the child. When I return to court can they dismiss this motion and countersuit a motion of contempt against the non-custodial parent for non payment of child support and medical insurance, etc.? I would also like to change my child's last name, how would this effect the order I presently have? Can this be done at the same hearing when it does finally get rescheduled?

Michigan Problem

You need to contcat a local attorney ASAP. Visitation may not be withheld as a sanction for failure to pay child support.
