Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Ex moved to another country, apply for sole custody

When the divorce was finalized last year we ended with joint custody of our child and with my ex due to pay child support. He moved to another country and never made any attempt to see our child. He has not paid one penny in child support and it has been over a year from our divorce. He has an issue with alcohol and I am fed up. I wish to have sole custody of my child and have him start paying child support. How should I proceed? Please help.

Re: Ex moved to another country, apply for sole custody

Is there a cogent reason why you want SOLE custody? You have custody (sole or otherwise) as he is out of the country and has absolutely no say in the child's life. Is there more? Right, he has the obligation to pay child support, you have an order and that obligation will continue until the child turns 18. You can get with the DOR and they can suspend his license, take his tax refund, etc.

But, you can always hire an attorney to get you what you want.
