Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Moved out of state (from FL) in May 2006. Other parent was notified & didn't object. He has seen the child at least once a year and even visited in our new state twice, at my expense. Paternity was established but nothing else. Child turns 18 next week and now he has filed for a Contempt Motion arguing I moved without his permission 12 years ago. Can FL hold me in Contempt 12 years later?

Maybe. Not enough information to give an opinion. See an attorney in the current home state and make sure they coordinate with a Florida attorney. Get moving as time is of the essence. I know of one case where Mom moved out of Florida, no contact with Father for over five years and Dad filed an action in Florida demanding joint custody (Child would spend equal time with both parents). Florida Judge ruled jurisdiction was Florida and may grant joint custody.
