Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
We named our daughter Mary Katherine when she was born. We call her Katie for short. Obviously, I forgot to hyphenate Mary Katherine because people call her Mary. She is in 2nd grade now and it frustrates her when people call her that. How can I hyphenate Mary Katherine and/or add her a middle name? Also, she was born in CA, but we now live in FL. Where do I need to change her name, CA or FL?

you can file a petition for a name change with the court where you live.

You can do the above or you can just list her name when filing out applications as M. Katherine and not reveal her first name.
