Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I'm newly divorced, the kids and I moved to Lorain OH, My ex-husband is taking me to court over the divorce agreement in Jacksonville, FL. and I can't afford counsel and I live in Ohio. the lawyer i had took the money, filed the papers, but will not defend me, just tells me to just let it go and it will blow over. Now it is getting scary. please advise me on my options.

contact the court for the hearing date - ask that you can appear by telephone due to the long distance - if you disagree with what your ex has to say then at least you can be representing yourself.
contact the Florida Bar - let them know what transpired between you and this lawyer and file a complaint - if all is true the Bar will sanction that person and they will be made to return your funds and/or make good on whatever the contract was for.
