does a non custodial parents girlfriend have the right to discipline

my ex's girlfriend feels that since it's her home to that she has the right to call my kids names and dicipline them. she has hit my son once already and there dad did nothing. she will call them names and there dad doesn't do anything about it.. what are my childrens rights. everytime they come home they tell me about situtations and it's not right..now i experianced it and i ended the problem once my son was called a name.. how can i protect my children and what can i do? i have told the father on countless times about this and he still doesn't see any problems.

There is no law or rule preventing your ex's girlfriend from disciplining the children. Once the kids are on your ex's timeshare, it's up to him to make sure that the kids are cared for properly. However, if you learn that the discipline is excessive, you should call DCF.
