Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Non-Payment of Child Support/Alimony since 1977

I was legally separated in NY in 1977. An agreement was drawn up between ourselves and attorneys and filed in the courts for Child Support @ $50/week per child until they were emancipated (3 children). the child support would change to alimony after each child was emancipated or circumstances changed. $600 per month was agreed upon to be paid by him, including Medical, Life, and Dental Insurance coverage for the children. I moved to FL and obtained a divorce in 1981 but did not adress these issues in the divorce as it was already ''resolved''. He was not present for the divorce. In 1983 one child died. I have not received any child support, alimony, nor was any medical/life/dental coverage provided that I know of. All the burial expenses and medical expenses were paid by me. I would like to know if I have any recourse in retrieving any past money never paid and/or alimony agreed upon since I never remarried or any alimony currently.

Re: Non-Payment of Child Support/Alimony since 1977

You need a NY attorney to enforce your agreement

which would be subject to a statute of limitations which is probably 6 years.
