Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

What is the normal outcome for requesting permission to relocate?

My new husband has been offered a job in another state working for the navy (as a civilian), but my ex won't voluntarily give me permission to move with my son. I am planning on going to petition the courts to overrule that but was just wondering what kind of outcome I should expect? Are the courts more sympathetic to the non custodial parent, or the family he is used to? Does it make a difference that he has a full family with me (step-dad, mom, baby sister) or could a judge really think it would be best for him to stay with his single dad? Please help! I am planning on trying to file the petition all on my own so any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, do I have to file in the county the divorce was finalized, or can I do it in the county I live in now? The difference in distance is over 300 miles.

Thanks!

Re: What is the normal outcome for requesting permission to relocate?

1. You must file in the original county. You can ask to change venue.

2. The best interests of the child is paramount. You hve a good chance of success. Good luck.
