Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Optain a legal allias

I was born in 1949 in Springfield Twp., Hamilton Co., Ohio and immediately put up for adoption. My biologial mother gave me a name and place that name on the original birth certificate that was later changed by my adopted parents to the name I have used ever since 1949. All this information is on record in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Oh. My youngest daughter married a fellow who has the same name as I do, I mean first middle and last. The last couple of years he has tried to use my name and address as a way of getting out of paying bills, by using my name and address. I now believe it is time to bring my old and original name out and use it on all legal documents except for my social security. Please inform me how to go about getting this done in Florida, where I am a resident and have been for the past 12 years. Or tell me if I will have to go back to Ohio

Go to the Self-Help Center at the courthouse in West Palm Beach. They can direct and assist you with filing and proceeding with a Petition for Name Change. Although it is usually not a difficult procedure, you may have some special issues come up due to the fraudulent use of your name by your son-in-law. If so, you are welcome to contact me should you need further assistance.
