Have you contacted the attorney to inquire as to what progress has been made? It is possible that they have filed things with the court and forgotten to provide you a copy. You can check with the clerk of court in your area to see if any documents have been filed.
Whether or not you may be entitled to a refund may depend on the language of the retainer agreement you signed when you hired the attorney.
