Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

paintings left behind after a breakup

I was living with a man for 1 and a half years. I am a painter. I left behind three paintngs that I painted in his residence upon moving to california when we broke up. one was given to him as a gift, and says so on the canvas.

Is it legal to have a officer of the law remove them from his house for me? I need them for my upcoming business as an artist.

With a promising career ahead of me I do not want him to have these art works because they can be appraised at a decent sum of money. I have no other way to get them, as when I tried to take tem he threatened to call the police saying I was stealing his property. I can prove they are mine. what should I do to get my art works back? Thank you sincerely for your time!
