parental disinterest

What is considered exteme parental disintest? My nephew's dad has not had any contact since 2005. He is paying child support but only because it is taken directly out of his check.

I have never heard the term "extreme parental disinterest" as that may be a MS legal term. From the sound of it, it may be close to what we in FL refer to as "abandonment." There appears to be no bond, no communication, no affection or the like. Sad, so sad. But I think in a general way that is what you are referring to.
