Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Parenting Class Online

I live in Florida, and I was informed by my wifes lawyer that I need to take a parenting class online, before we can go thru our divorce; is this true? And if it isnt true will this affect me in a negative way if I dont take the parenting class online?

Re: Parenting Class Online

Yes! Under Florida Statute 61.21, this parenting course is required to be taken. It is a program established by the Florida Legislature to encourage bonds between parents and children in dissolution proceedings. You should consider hiring an attorney in your dissolution proceeding.

You have to take the class if you have minor children. However, it doesn't have to be online. Check the list of providers through your courthouse. They should also have a link on their website to a list of qualified providers.
