Parent's Legal Responsibility of an 18 year old

Our son is 18 and is defiant, unmotivated, and ungrateful. Legally, can we stop supporting him?

Yes. A parent does not have any legal responsibility to support an adult child (one who is over the age of 18) unless he or she is legally incompetent.
