Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My parents have permenant custody of my children after their mother was convicted of child abuse charges.
We interviewd one of the local supervised visitation centers (the one mom chose) and the lady there said "In the state of Florida, the non-custodial visiting parent decides where the visitations are done".
Is this true? Seems backwards, and if it's not true, I really doubt the integrity of the visitation center.
Thank you!.

Generally true. That's because a "custodial parent" isn't usually using the visitation center. Visitation centers are usually used by the "non-custodial" parent because the "custodial parent" has custody, and therefore doesn't usually need a visitation center. But there isn't any hard and fast rule on it. It's usually best for everyone to agree on a visitation center. If they can't agree, they may have to go to the judge. As a practical matter, there aren't many visitation centers. Even the big counties (like Orange or Hillsborough) only have one usually, and most counties don't even have visitation centers. My suggestion is, just use the closest one.
