Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

how do I get a parterity test when the mother won't let me, she says she has the right to say no, She lied to me about the birth certificate telling me I couldn't sign it unless I had insurance and as being very nieve as my Mother would say, I just don't have the knowledge for this situation, he is my first child but I am so confused and don't know why she keeps putting me off when I mention My son having my Last name and aknowledge me as the father. She gave my son her last name wich is her ex husbands last name and his insurance paid the hospital bill, is that legal? i want to take my responsibility as a father no matter how much it cost me, i am willing to work and pay just to have some rights and because I am not a dead beat dad, I love my son and I take care of him.

A Petition to Establish Paternity, and for Other Related Relief, needs to be pursued, The "Other Related Relief" concerns custody and visitation.

If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.

If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation. The main office is in Dunedin, with a satellite location in Tampa.
