Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

passport

I want to take my son with my family on vacation out of the country and his father is refusing to sign the passport paperwork. He has done nothing for our son in 11 years until now when he found out. He is also not allowed to have contact with our son due to his criminal history, what can I do so my son can go with us.

Re: passport

In 11 years the only thing the father has done for his son is to refuse to sign papers so your son can enrich his life by traveling abroad? Shame on him. Go back to Court and get the Court's permission to allow you to sign off on your own.

I did not know that one parent alone could not do it, but upon reflection I guess that would be fraught with problems.

Re: passport

File a motion in family law court to allow the State Department to issue a passport without the father's signature. The motion is not a standard form, so you may need a lawyer to help, but these types of motions are granted all the time.
