Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Paternity Question
I am in Iraq working but live in Florida and have been since March and will not be home until August. On April 16th a man came by our new townhouse that we just moved into April 1st looking for me to serve me paperwork. My girlfriend talked to him through the door and said that I did not live there. The man did not identify himself or what the paperwork contained just left it outside the door. She never took the paperwork or read it and it was gone the next day. I figure it was about taking a paternity test from several years ago. I went online to the clerk of courts and checked and it said that it indicated that I was served. Is this legal? He did not say what the paperwork contained or who he was? Can I file a ''Motion to Quash for improper service''? What can I do being in Iraq or should I do anything? Is there a time limit to do something or will they believe the server and put a judgement out against me? Thank you!
