Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
paternity and wanting to see my son
My husband and I got married in 2002, I had a child in 1998. My parent were upset about the person I married and convinced me to come back and live with them. In 2003, I left my husband for 2 weeks and I took my son down to FL to live with my parents. My parents were very controling and I left and left my son with them, I did not tell them I was leaving fearing it would be a big fight. I called them and told them I wanted to come back and get my son and they refused. Stating I had abandonded him. I want my son back and I was told my parents were trying to terminate my rights. In the meantime they filed a child support order on me and my husband (they know my husband is not the father). They said in 2005 they sent in a request for DNA and we ignored it (we were between addresses at the time). Now my husband has gone down to FL twice and the case has closed and he has to file for a paternity test. Please provide information on getting a paternity and how I can get my son back. We currently live in NC and it is very hard to go to FL for court, is there anything we can do?

You definitely need a FL attorney in the jurisdiction where where your child lives. The side issue of your husband having to pay child support may be an uphill battle too. Even DNA may not get him off the hook now! Contact initially a family attorney over the phone. The proceed from there.
You have allowed time to work against you.
