It's very important to keep very accurate records of the child support you pay. You should keep copies of all of your checks and money orders. Never pay by cash. Once you are certain that the state's records are incorrect, file a motion to correct the regsitry. If the difference is large, you may want to get a lawyer to help you. You may want to bring a spreadsheet to court with you (after filing a notice that you intend to use a spreadsheet), but bring copies of your original records, too, or else the spreadsheet is no good. Make sure the registry gets corrected, or you could face driver license, professional license, and passport suspension, possibly even jail.
