Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

May I perform my own wedding rites?

While researching this question of mine, I have found that in the state of Florida the following persons may perform a marriage: a regularly ordained or licensed minister or other ordained clergy; elders in communion with some church; all judicial officers(Judges) of the State of Florida; Clerks of Circuit Court and their deputies of the State of Florida; and Notaries Public of the State of Florida.

As a licensed minister, I would like to conduct a very private and solemn ceremony comprised of just my bride-to-be and me. I can find nowhere that the licensed minister must actually be a third party.

Upon completion of our ceremony, may I myself sign and solemnize our union?

Thanks.

Re: May I perform my own wedding rites?

It's a good question that I do not have an exact answer for you. However, the problem I see is the affirmance of the contract. You will have to file documents at the courthouse so I would ask them what you need. I deal mainly with separating marriage contracts unfortunately.
