Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I am planning to separate from my husband of 2 years due to emotion and verbal abuse. I have been working at my job for 17 years in which I will be loosing due to the plant closure. I will be receiving a severance package and I would like to know if I separate or eventually divorce if any of that money will go to my husband and if so is there something I can do to make sure that he does not get it?

assets are considered in the equitable distribution. you wouldn't wanrt him to hide his assets, would you?
If you have a 401 or other retirement plan, then 2 years of that could be equitably divided, the other maybe not. YOu have not been married for a long duration and I doubt that he really is entitled to anything. Florida is an equitable distribution state, so if he contributed, he gets something.
