Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
power of attorney
My dad who is 88 years old is moving to Costa Rica from Florida. I live in Florida and he wants me to have full power of attorney. I went on line to get the forms but I need to know that when they ask for the state is the power of attorney only good for Florida or is it also good while he is living in Costa Rica. Csn this be done with on line forms or do we need to get a real live attorney?

Re: power of attorney
NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
You can prepare a Power of Attorney yourself, but if there are any errors the entire document will be worthless. Generally, even if properly prepared, it will only be good in Florida.
I would strongly suggest that you have a "real live attorney" (rather than a dead one) prepare this instrument for you. This will avoid any errors and give you piece of mind while dad is in Costa Rica.
