Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Pro bono attornies

Are there any attornies who take on pro bono cases? My child and I are being terrorized by my ex-husband in numerous ways and I cannot take him on alone. I have been denied help through legal aid due to ongoing nature of my case, and it is my child and I who continue to be hurt.

Are there not any attornies who help in cases like this? How do i find them? How do I get justice for myself and my child? I currently have primary residential with constant threats to have that changed. I have constant threats of litigation due to alleged slander (which is not happening). Then I have slander on his part (contacting people and spreading complete lies about me) and degridation of our child (telling our child the same lies he tells my friends). How can I get help?

He most recently told me that he is watching me - he has said this in the past to state caseworkers and was warned that this could be construed as stalking. he is still doing it. I have tried on my own to get an RO only to be told obnoxious behaviour is not against the law. I am not worried about obnoxious behavior, I am afraid of this man and what he is capable of. I need help and cannot get it.

Re: Pro bono attornies

All attorneys do pro bono work. Some of us help form of build churches and temples. Some of us help voluntary arts organizations get started. Some of us help Big Brothers/Big Sisters with their legal needs. Some of us help disabled children. Some of us help hurricane victims seek compensation after they become homeless.

You married this man and had a child with him. Why do you want us to give up our time for free? I don't mean to be rude, but how do you compare to these other people, especially after legal aid has rejected you?

In know you are going through a bad time, and I especially feel sorry for your child, but maybe it's time for you to take more appropriate action. Have you asked the judge to award you attorneys' fees from him? If he's slandering you, why not sue him? If he's saying bad things in front of your child, why not ask for a custody evaluation or have a psychologist talk to your child (check your insurance or his to see if it can be paid for). Maybe a professional can report the things your husband tells your child to the judge, who will limit your husband's visitation or make it supervised.
